![]() Ellen J. Lipsey Did you know that Schoolmaster Hill is named for Ralph Waldo Emerson who lived there in a cabin in the 1820?s with his mother and brother when he was a school teacher in Roxbury? He hated being a teacher and it is said that here is where he began to write poetry and more ?.. Today on the top of the hill there is a restored stone terrace and walkway, overlooking the golf course with the Blue Hills in the distant. There is no sign marking the path so most do not know it is there. Christine Poff |
