| Reader's Comment from Peter D. Gabele, April 2006
I lived in the "3 decker" house at the corner of Carruth and Verdun (62 Carruth St.) from 1954 to 1963. I attended the Ellen H. Richards Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Junior High. The Ashmont Tennis Club was already replaced with three new houses with large yards. When the wind was blowing just right, we could smell chocolate comming from the Baker's Chocolate Mill. A favorite place to fish was the Granite Ave. bridge and a great place to hunt rabbits (with a slingshot) was the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
