Drawing by Jack Frost dated 1935 published in Boston Herald November 10, 1936. Emor Hollingsworths will directed that a hall be built for Mattapan with profits to go libraries in Mattapan and Milton. The building went up in 1872 and was later moved on its lot so that its entrance would be more convenient from Cummins Highway in 1936. The building was located at River Street and Cummins Highway, which is now part of the parking area for the Church of the Holy Spirit.
