The re-installation of the Peabody Square Clock in May, 2003, was the occasion to publish a booklet that tells the history of Peabody Square and of the clock that was erected in 1910. This four-dial post clock, fabricated by the E. Howard Clock Company, is the only architect-designed clock in the City of Boston. William Downer Austin designed the clock in response to the City's desire to enhance a public space and to provide a useful civic amenity.
