 The map engraved for the Boston Almanac of 1849 shows the Old Colony Railroad running through Dorchester although there is no Shawmut branch railroad yet. The communities within Dorchester are Neponset Village, Lower Mills Village, a cluster of buildings at Codman Square, Harrison Square, Savin Hill and Commercial Point.
