Baker's Pharmacy
Walter N. Bakers Pharmacy

Postcard. Caption on front: Neponset Ave. showing Walter N. Bakers Pharmacy, Neponset, Mass. Postmarked Dorchester Center. Caption on verso: Published by A. Kagan, Boston, Mss. Printed in Germany.

The pharmacy building is now the last building on Neponset Avenue before the traffic circle and the Expressway. To the left you can see the iron fence for the Minot School (now the site of the Health Center) and in the distance you can see the buildings along Neponset Avenue going toward the Neponset Bridge. One was a livery stable owned by Mary Dacey; others were residential buildings; the Frost Coal Company was located at the very end on the left at the Riverís edge (I am not sure you can see that far in this post card). Between 1910 and 1918 most of the buildings were taken down for the construction of the Old Colony Parkway. In the 1950s (?) the Parkway was expanded to become the Expressway, which was elevated over the circle.

Closer view of the pharmacy building with the name Neponset Drug Store in 1910, which was located on Neponset Avenue in the building that still stands approximately across from the end of Minot Street. The iron fence of the Minot School (now replaced by the health center) is to the left. The sign in the yard has the title Voting List Wd 20 Pc 6
