From the early 1970s until roughly 1983 there was the Puritan Mall Cinema, a two-screen theatre, in what is now (2005) Rainbow Fashions on Morrissey Boulevard.
"I saw Star Wars there three times in August 1978 (it took over a year to get there). I remember seeing The Wiz, Sgt. Pepper, Close Encounters, Friday the 13th III, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Taps, Grease, Excalibur, and Raiders of the Lost Ark and many others there. After the theatre closed they filled in and leveled the floors. It became a drug store, a video store (Endless, then Blockbuster, and now Rainbow Fashions)." -- John Costello

I remember going to see "Blazing Saddles", "The Exorcist"
and a whole bunch of other films there. It was a great cheap date destination. Good times.
