The Tide Mill Institute began informally in 2005 with a conference designed to foster the study of tide mill sites. The Institute, which is sponsored by the Dorchester Historical Society, Dorchester, Massachusetts, hosts a conference each November where researchers and other stakeholders interested in tide mill sites and technology share their work.
