First Tour, May 2007
 Alliance of First Period Properties, Bus Tour May 20, 2007

We will gather at the Pierce House on Oakton Avenue. Take the Southeast Expressway (Route 93) to the Granite Avenue exit in Dorchester. From the south this is the first Dorchester exit (after the Quincy exits) and from the north it is the last Dorchester exit. Follow Granite Avenue across the bridge and keep going straight. Go straight through the intersection at Gallivan Boulevard with the McDonald's on the right. The road you are on is now named Adams Street. Go straight, continuing up the hill. Oakton Avenue is a right hand turn just after the Adams Street branch of the Boston Public Library. Park in the Kenney School's parking lot on the right side of the street. You will see the Pierce House on the left side of the street.

8:30 AM Pierce House Registration/Coffee and donuts

9:00 AM: Pierce House, Dorchester, MA.
Intro to HNE and Pierce House by docent. Guide to focus on building construction and its architects, architectural elements, and recovered information from preservation and restoration projects. Dendrochronology, educational programming and public outreach possible discussion topics. 9:45AM: Board bus for trip to North End

10:10 AM Arrive Paul Revere House. Intro to Paul Revere House Association by Patrick Leahy of the PRHA.
10:20 AM Guided tour with a focus on structural elements and building techniques, information found during previous restoration and preservation projects, and treatment methods in consolidating the house for the future. The group will be divided into 3 groups of 17. Group one will begin in the courtyard with Ellen Berkland to discuss the land-use history of the property and archaeology of the back lot; group two will begin on the first floor of the PRHo and group three will be begin on the second floor. Each tour will last 10 minutes and then rotate. 11:00 AM Bus leaves Revere House for Blake House, Dorchester, MA.

11:15 AM, Arrive at Blake House. Five minute Intro to DHS by Earl Taylor. Focus of tours on the early architects and building styles, structural elements, information found during previous restoration and preservation projects, and treatment methods in consolidating the house. Group will be divided into 3 groups. Exterior guide, Jerry Eide. Attic guide: John Goff. First floor guide: Earl Taylor.

Noon: Meeting with Abbott Lowell Cummings

12:30 PM: Proclamation to Abbott Lowell Cummings

1:00 PM: Board bus and head back to the Pierce House.
