The Bowdoin Hardware Company, dealers in hardware, paints, oil and wall paper, at Nos. 227-229 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester, has an enviable reputation in the business world and with the Dorchester public generally, for the excellence of the articles of common use in which it deals and for the fairness and honesty with which it treats its patrons. J. W. Rose is the proprietor of the concern and established it six years ago in its present location. The store is 35 by 50 feet in dimensions and has a basement. The stock is large and comprehensive in its character mid includes hardware of every descript ion, paints, oils, varnishes and wall paper of tine latest and most fashionable designs and patterns. The’ selection of wall coverings it keeps for the benefit of the customers of the company is, perhaps, the largest and most varied to be found in Dorchester and is greatly admired by those who have seen it. The concern makes a specialty of the sale of the famous “Acme” brand of tine house paints and commends them to builders and householders for their characteristics, beauty and durability.
Mr. Rose is a native of Boston and was educated and reared in the city of his birth. He is a true Bostonian, in the true sense of the word and takes great pride in her.
