One of the most important and influential houses in the real estate business in this district is that of Daniel J. Daly, at the corner of Dorchester and Savin Hill avenues, his office numbering 39 Savin Hill Avenue and 1101-1103 Dorchester Avenue. .Mr. Daly began business ten years ago at 33 Savin Hill Avenue, where he remained until last September, when he erected the building which he now occupies, giving him much larger and commodious quarters, which he required on account of the increase in his business.
He does a general real estate business, in buying, selling, renting and exchanging property, caring for estates, collecting rents and negotiating loans on real property. he also does a large business as auctioneer. He makes a specialty of the management of estates of those who are deceased or absent and has achieved many notable successes in this part of his work. He holds commissions as justices of the peace and notary public and acts in those capacities whenever the occasion requires him to do so. Mr. Daly makes a specialty of Dorchester property and now has a list of more than one thousand houses, apartments and business buildings for sale, rental or exchange in his offices. he also acts as an insurance agent, representing the Phoenix Insurance Company, of Hartford, Conn.; the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, of Norwich, England; the Westchester Insurance Company, of new York, and Continental, of New York. He is in a position to write policies in these companies or any other company a party wishes, without delay and to settle all losses promptly and satisfactorily to his clients.
Mr. Daly was born and educated in Dorchester and all of his interests are centered in this district. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and director of the Columbus Club and is active in both of those organizations. He is also a member of Ward 20 Democratic committee and an ardent worker for the Savin Hill Improvement Association.
He is known to practically everybody in Dorchester, where he has spent a life-time and is highly regarded by all. As a businessman, Mr. Daly is admired for his strict integrity and exalted sense of honor, while in private life, he is greatly esteemed and is popular among all classes of his fellow citizens. He is public-spirited and patriotic in the extreme, and nothing in his eyes is too good for Dorchester and the people who live there.
