Well-known druggist at the corner of Bowdoin and Hamilton Streets—his establishment is growing in popularity with particular people
The corner of Bowdoin and Hamilton streets, Dorchester, is well known as the home of the reliable drug store of John H. Dorsey. He established a store in the district four years ago and removed to his present location in 1906. The salesroom is spacious and well appointed. with a handsome soda water fountain and neat fixtures. Mr. Dorsey carries a fine stock of goods, including drugs, chemicals, patent medicines, rubber goods, toilet articles, sick room and hospital supplies, perfumery, stationery, confectionery, cigars and dainty novelties in great variety, etc. He makes a specialty of the scientific compounding of the prescriptions of physicians and never .permits drugs or other ingredients of a doubtful nature to enter their composition, neither does be ever allow the substation of one drug for another to save expense to himself, as is frequently the case with less conscientious compounders of medicines. All of this kind of work is done in his well-appointed laboratory. The success of the store in this important particular makes it a favorite place with doctors to have their prescriptions put up, and Mr.Dorsey has the unqualified endorsement of the medical fraternity of this section. His store is a culture station fur the state board of health.
Mr. Dorsey was born in Dorchester and was educated and raised here. He is registered as a pharmacist by the state board of pharmacy and is a member of the Boston Retail Druggists’ Association and of the National Association of Retail Druggists. He is an enthusiastic lover of his native place and is popular with everybody.
