Emory O. Hersey
Real estate and insurance agent, 200 Washington Street
Prominent among the real estate men in this district is Emery O. Hersey, whose offices are at No. 200 Washington Street, Mr. Bowdoin, Dorchester. Mr. Hersey y began business here in 1892, occupying his present corner. He transacts a general real estate business, in buying, selling, renting and exchanging property. He also collects rents and manages and cares for the estates of those who are deceased or absent. Mr. Hersey makes a specialty of loaning money on real estate mortgages, negotiating these loans promptly and at low rates of interest. He is particularly interested in Dorchester property and has, at the present time, on his books no less than 500 dwelling houses, apartments and business property for sale or rental in Dorchester and some in Roxbury and elsewhere in the vicinity. He also holds a commission as justice of the peace, having been appointed to that office seven years ago, and acts in that capacity whenever the occasion requires such action.
Mr. Hersey was born in Summer, the state of Maine, and came to Dorchester 16 years ago. He is considered a public-spirited and patriotic citizen of his adopted home, being fully alive to everything which makes for the good of Dorchester. He is highly respected as a badness man for his fair, upright dealings with his fellow men and is esteemed far his attributes as a private individual. He is still in the prime of life and acts as agent for the Home Fire Insurance Company of New York.
