Dealers in fine footwear, 1438A Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester.

The firm of J. E. MacBride & Co., dealers in fine footwear, at No. 1438A Dorchester Avenue, Field’s Corner, Dorchester, is one of the largest in this line of business in the district.  Its operations extending over a wide territory, as several branch stores are conducted by it, in addition to the Dorchester establish­ment. The firm is composed of J. E. MacBride and F. D. Tarlton.

Their store was opened  April 1, 1905. The salesroom is commodious, being .22 by 60 feet in dimensions and is filled with the most attractive and varied stock of goods imaginable. The firm carries a fine assortment of high grade boots, shoes and rubbers for men women and children, including those of the most famous makes, like the Douglas for men and “La France” for women. The business of the store has more  than doubled since its establishment and is growing daily by leaps and bounds.. ln the spring of 905, the firm opened a branch store at Somerville and one at Newton Upper Falls later in the same year.   Last spring, still another branch was added, the latest one being in West Medford. As its business now stands, the firm operates four complete shoe stores, all of which are successful under­takings.

Mr. MacBride, the popular and efficient manager of the Dorchester establishment, is a native of Newton and a prominent member of the Royal Arcan­um and is well liked In the community where he lives.
