The business of the firm of Nichols & Young, plumbers and sanitary en­gineers, at No. 350 Washington Street, Dorchester, ‘was established five years ago by the firm of Nichols & Carpenter. The present firm, composed of D. W. Nichols and C. L. Young, became the owner of the establishment in May 1907.  The premises consist of a store and work shop. In the store is carried a large stock of gas fitters’ and plumbers’ goods, such as glass globes, mantels, accessories for gas stoves, for Welsbach mantels and all of the latest and most improved methods in gas lighting. The work shop is equipped with all of the most modern appliances and mechanical devices known to the plumbing busi­ness, for doing ail kinds of light sheet metal work in the most effective man­ner. The firm makes a specialty of hot water heating work and as licensed gas fitters, attend to any contracts in that department of the business that may be offered to them.  They also manufacture and install copper and galvanized iron conductors and gas fixtures and place furnaces and repair the same and perform tin and sheet metal work. This firm has the reputation of being second to none in this region in its department of trade and enjoys the complete confidence of the public generally.  A force of skilled mechanics is employed, the number of which varies in proportion to the size and importance of the contracts to be executed.  The patronage of the house comes from Dorchester and its vicinity.

Both partners are (natives of this state and are highly respected and es­teemed.
