The house of Pratt & Company, dealers in lumber, on Taylor Street, Neponset, Dorchester, has a history, which dates back to the middle of the last century, having been established in 1852.  In its early days, the business was conducted by the firm of Howe, Pratt & Co., but it has operated under its present title, Pratt & Company, since 1857, just a half-century.  the concern deals in lumber of every kind and its name is known in the this country wherever lumber is bought and sold in commerce.  The firm maintains a lumber yard on the banks of the Neponset River, in which is stored a large quantity of lumber of every descr9ip-tion, and also keeps an office at No. 50 Congress Street, Boston, for the transaction of its down-town business.  The company’s yard is extensive, and stock kept there is of the most varied character, containing specimens of almost all kinds of lumber used for any imaginable purpose.  The firm saws frames to order in any manner desired And disposes of its stock at reasonable prices to its patrons representing various interests.
