Silva’s Lunch Room

Largely patronized eating house, 1502 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester

Last July, the firm of Silva & Tavares bought out the interest in the Dunnell lunch room at No. 1502 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, and have conducted it since that time with much success.  The firm is composed of Alexander P. Silva and Jose Tavares.  The restaurant over which they capably preside is a popular establishment and has been such for a long time, the new firm succeeding to a patronage already well established, but much has been done under the present proprietors to make it more desirable than ever, if such were possible.  The place is scrupulously neat and clean and appeals strongly to every critical person who crosses its threshold.  the fixtures are of hardwood, and all of its appointments are most attractive.  It is provided with a lunch counter and with tables and has a seating capacity of 28.  The food served is of the most appetizing character, being well prepared and carefully served.  Ready-cooked food is served over the lunch counter, while the regular meals and dishes cooked to the order of the guest are served at the separate tables.  The prices charged for all of the dishes obtainable there are low and come within the reach of persons of slender means.

Both members of the firm are natives of the kingdom of Portugal.  Mr. Silva, who acts as general manager of the establishment, is a member of the Odd Fellows.
