The Lewis House is a substantial Italianate house at 597 Adams Street, between Wrentham and Templeton Streets.  Edwin J. Lewis Jr. (1859-1937) was a noted shingle-style architect who designed more than 40 Unitarian churches in the United States and Canada, among them Christ Church, Dorchester.  Also a prolific residential architect, Lewis designed numerous houses in town between 1887 and his death.  [Lewis lived here but did not design this house]
