D W. Hall

Dealer in choice groceries at no. 914 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester

D (David) W. (Winser) Hall, the grocer, at No. 914 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, is looked upon as one of the veteran merchants of the district, having been in business since 1866. In that year, Mr. Hall opened a grocery store at No. 267 Harrison Avenue, in the city proper, and remained there for twenty-six years, removing to Dorchester in 1898. Mr. Hall’s store is spacious and well-arranged and he keeps a large stock of staple and fancy groceries, teas, coffees, spices, butter, cheese, eggs, canned goods, table delicacies, cereals, flour, sugar, salt, etc., in great variety. All of his goods are of guaranteed quality and are examples of the choicest food products to be obtained anywhere. His long experience in business gives him an advantage in buying his stock over younger dealers and many of his goods he is able to buy, therefore, at prices below the regular market quotation and is thus enabled to sell them at figures lower than most of his competitors in business. Careful housewives like to trade at the Hall store for they know that it is in the interest of genuine economy to do so and they also know that they get the best things there that the market affords.

Mr. Hall is a native of West Roxbury, having been born there in 1837, seventy years ago. For the last thirty-fire years he has held a commission as justice of the peace and still holds the office. He is a thirty-second degree Free Mason and a member of the Odd Fellows, the Eastern Star and the Ancient Order of United Workmen. He is a public spirited man and of wide influence and popularity in his locality.
