His fine, artistic portraits excelled by no other photographer in Greater Boston—maintains a splendid studio at 1873 Dorchester Avenue—established her seven years.
To see and experience all that is best and latest I the fine art of photography, one should pay a visit to the Barrow Studio, at No. 1873 Dorchester Avenue, where F. R. Barrow, the expert artist has his headquarters. Mr. Barrow entered the field of photography 30 years ago in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He remained there until 1900, when he came to Boston and settled in Ashmont. His studio occupies a two-story brick building 18 b6 100 feet in dimensions. In the front part of the ground floor, the reception room is situated. This apartment is handsomely furnished in old oak, and the walls are lavishly decorated with works of art. In the rear of the reception room is the operat9ing room, fully equipped with all of the latest devised used in modern photography. On the second floor are the dressing room and the finishing room. Mr. Barrow does everything in the department of scientific photography, making a specialty of taking the pictures of children, for which delicate work he is justly famous. His portrait work in every direction is simply the very perfection of excellence and cannot be surpassed.
Mr. Barrow was born in Michigan in 1853. He has been connected with the business of photography for the last 30 years. He is a member of the Woodmen of America and Ben Hur. He is treasurer of the National Photographers’ Association, which office he has held for years; of the New England Photographer’s’ Association and is an honorary member of the Indiana Photographers’ Association.
