Grover S. Cleveland (1837-1908) was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He has been the only person to serve two terms as President where were not consecutive. One of his ancestors came from England to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1635. He was a laywer who became active in political reform as Mayor of Buffalo in 1881 and as Governor of New York. As President, he was known for reduction of the tariff and for upholding the Monroe Doctrine.
