Reckoned among the leading estab­lishments in the grocery trade is the store of J. G. Allen, at No. 442 Geneva avenue, corner of Josephine street, Dor­chester. Mr. Allen first entered the grocery business 12 years ago, when he established a store on South Street, in the city proper. He remained there un­til January, 1907, when he removed his interests to Dorchester. His store is unusually commodious in its proportions, being 40 by 50 feet in dimensions, covering a superficial area of 2000 square feet. It is neatly fitted up and ap­pointed and is thoroughly stocked with a selection of goods second to none of its kind in the entire district. Included in this large and varied assortment of tine goods are staple and fancy groceries, butter, eggs, cheese, teas, coffees. spices, canned goods, table delica­cies. jar goods, luncheon dainties, breakfast dainties, flour, sugar, salt, pickles, all kinds of provisions, fresh meats, fresh and salt fish, oysters, clams, etc.  Fruits and vegetables can also be found there in abundance and in lavish variety, in their seasons:

Mr. Allen was born in Maine. He has been a resident of Boston for the last 40 years. He is a Free Mason and a Knight Templar and is still in the prime of life. Although he has not been a resident of the Dorchester district a long time, his interests are all centered here and he is already enthusiastic admirer of the district and its people and is reckoned a popular person in the community.
