M.J. Dempsey, dealer in choice groceries and provisions at No. 1840 Dorchester Avenue, corner of Templeton Street, Ashmont, is the proprietor of one of the most important businesses of that kind in Dorchester, maintaining a branch establishment at No. 1869 Dorchester Avenue. Mr. Dempsey opened his Templeton Street store six years ag and added the branch establishment in the present year. Both of his sores are large and spacious and are stocked with an assortment of goods which are of the highest grade.  His stock consists f staple and fancy groceries, beef, mutton, lamb, port, ham, poultry, sausages, tripe, pigs’ feet, liver, lard, etc., and fresh fruits and vegetables in their seasons at the lowest cash prices.  He makes a notable specialty of fresh eggs and of “picnic” hams.  Mr. Dempsey employs a force of eight assistants and makes use of three wagons for the delivery of orders free of expense to his patrons.

Mr. Dempsey was born in Ireland and has made his home in Boston for the last fourteen years.  He is regarded as one of the leading men among Irish-Americans in Dorchester and is a man of whom his fellow countrymen are justly proud.  As a business man of the highest integrity and honor, he stands high in the mercantile world and as a private citizen, he is esteemed and respected by all members of the community who are privileged to know him.
