No more progressive and energetic young men can be found hereabouts than the members of the firm of Miller & Porter, dealers in choice groceries and provisions at No. 896 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester.  This firm was organized in 1903, when it established a store at No. 10 Sagamore Street, this district.  The present quarters were taken possession of three years ago.  The store is large and well arranged and contains a first class stock of goods, such as staple and fancy groceries, butter, cheese, eggs, teas, coffees, spices, canned goods, table delicacies, cereals, flour, all kinds of provisions, fresh meats, etc., in every conceivable variety.  The goods sold in the establishment are renowned for their quality in the neighborhood and are fully guaranteed by the firm.  Despite the excellence of the stock, the prices which rule in the establishment are remarkably low and satisfactory to the patrons.  The place does a large and constantly increasing business and gives employment to six people, also making use of two wagons in the operation of the prompt and accurate delivery system maintained.  During the winter months, the store is open Friday eve3nings to enable customers to get orders early Saturday morning.

The members of the firm are E. L. Miller and R. G. Porter.  Both are young men.  Mr. Miller is a native of Nova Scotia, Canada, and  Mr. Porter was born in New Brunswick, in the same dominion.  Both partners are popular and highly respected among those whom they associated and are regarded as valuable acquisitions to the business and social life of Dorchester.
