Mt. Vernon Bakery

High class baking establishment at 850 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester

No bakery in the Dorchester district has a higher reputation for efficiency than has the Mt.  Vernon Bakery at No. 850 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester. This bakery is owned and operated by Miss Josephine A. Houlihan, who established it five years ago. In the front part of the premises, Miss Houlihan maintains a well ordered store, while the bakeshop occupies the rear portion. Front end to end, the place is a picture of neatness and tidiness, and that no taint of dirt ever gets into the food prepared there is apparent at first glance to even the unskilled observer. The bakery is equipped with all the latest and most improved appliances known to the baking business and a corps of skilled hands looks out carefully for every department of the work done there. Only the. highest class food stuffs go into the composition of the’ great variety of dainties made there, and when they come out of the ovens, they are simply the perfection of the bakers’ art. No effort is made to sell the output of the ovens to outside dealers. All of the product of the establishment being sold over the counter of its own store. All kinds of bread, rolls, cakes, pies, cookies, doughnuts, etc.., are made in the shop.

Miss Houlihan is a native of Boston and has passed her life in this city. She’ is extremely popular and a general favorite in Dorchester, where she has lived for 15 years, and the good things that emanate from her bakery have attained the same degree of popularity in the homes in the neighborhood as she has in the business and social world. The bakery has telephone connection.
