Norris Bros.
Dealers in choice groceries and provisions, 587-593 Washington Street
The firm of Norris Bros., grocers, at nos. 587-593 Washington Street, Dorchester, is notable as one of the largest and most important retail grocery houses in the district. The firm is composed of Ziba A. Norris and John L. Norris, brothers, and was organized in 1892. The store is large and well appointed in every detail and contains a superior stock of goods most comprehensive in its character. The stock includes staple and fancy groceries, butter, cheese, eggs, teas, coffees, spices, canned goals, cereals, jar goods, crackers, olives, olive oil, poultry, game, fruits, vegetables. etc., in short, the firm carries a complete stock of groceries in all branches. The establishment gives employment to eleven salesmen and maintains several wagons in the operation of its prompt and accurate delivery system. In spite of the superlative quality of all of the articles which comprise the stock, the prices which rule in this store are as low as the lowest, considering the quality of goods handled. It goes without saying that the place commands a large patronage and has as its customers the best families in the locality.
Both brothers are natives of Lyme, N.H, a small town near the Vermont line. Before opening their Washington Street Dorchester store, they kept a similar establishment on Washington corner Worcester street, South End. Boston. They also now run another similar store in Cohasset. Mass. Both members of the firm are reckoned as leading citizens of Dorchester and are prominent in the neighborhood
