T.G. Buckley

Largest piano and furniture mover in this section, 9 Magnolia Street, Roxbury

“We move the people” is the sententious legend on all of the literature issued by T. G. Buckley, the noted furniture and piano mover, of No. 9 Magnolia Street, Roxbury, whenever he wished to call public notice to the exceptional facilities at his command for doing that difficult and important class of work.  Mr. Buckley established his large enterprise in 1888 and was formerly located at No. 687 Dudley  Street, removing to Magnolia Street last spring.  In the near future, he proposes to erect a large and modern, fireproof storage warehouse at the corner of Dudley and Humphrey streets, equipped with all of the up-to-date facilities, in which he will have his offices and maintain his permanent headquarters.  He now has a branch office at No. 349 Washington Street, Dorchester from which he attends to the business which comes to him from that region.  Mr. Buckley moves pianos and all kinds of household furniture, packs them for shipping to remote points, making a specialty of the careful packing of bric-a-brac, china, paintings and other fragile articles.  He also sells burlap, excelsior and packing cases.  He employs 16 expert handlers and packers of furniture and keeps eight teams busy every day.

Mr. Buckley was born in Boston and was educated and brought up in the city.  He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and the Odd Fellows and is active in both of those organizations.  He is also affiliated with the Ancient Order of United Workmen.  He is a man who is respected and esteemed by all of his fellow citizens in the community and is universally popular.
