Veteran real estate and insurance man, 1878 Dorchester Avenue, Ashmont

Wallace Burleigh is looked upon as the veteran in the ranks of the real es­tate and insurance men of Dorchester, his office being at No. 1878 Dorchester Avenue, Ashmont. Mr. Burleigh has’ been in business for many years and seen Dorchester grow from a modest territory into one of the most important parts of Boston in a comparatively short time, and he takes great pride in its increase in prosperity., feeling, perhaps that his efforts have aided a little in the good cause. Mr. Burleigh conducts a general real estate business in buying selling, renting and exchanging ‘property for clients, in collecting rents and man­aging estates for others. He also does a large business in negotiating loans on real property. He makes a specialty of Dorchester real estate and has at the present moment on his books no less than 300 houses, apartments and stores for sale or rent in the district and its immediate vicinity. He also pays special attention to the repairing of dwellings and the management of trust estates and to the collection of rents in Dorchester and its neighborhood. Mr. Burleigh is also well known as an insurance agent, representing the Fireman’s Fund of San Francisco and writes policies without delay and at the lowest rates.

Mr. Burleigh was  born in Franklin, N. H., seventy-six years ago. He has lived in Dorchester for many years and is one of its best known and most highly respected citizens. As an authority on real estate matters in this. district, he stands at the head, his knowledge of Dorchester property being most exhaus­tive and accurate, born of long experience. If a difference arises concerning values in certain sections among other real estate men, it is no uncommon thing for them to agree to heave the question to Mr. Burleigh to decide and in such cases, his judgment is considered final and conclusive and is accepted without pretest. Despite his advanced years, Mr. Burleigh is still active in business and attends to his duties every day as regularly as if he was many years younger. He is a Mason.
