J.M. Casey & Co., the well-known Ashmont firm of shoe dealers, at No. 166 Ashmont Street, Ashmont, Dorchester, established its business at its present location 14 years ago, and long ago obtained a substantial standing in the community to whose wants they successfully cater. The business is controlled solely by Mr. Casey, for he has no one in partnership with him. The store is spacious and neatly appointed, and the large stock of goods onsale there is most attractively and invitingly displayed. The stock of footwear which Mr. Casey carries represents the highest type of the modern shoemaker’s art and consists of examples from the greatest factories in the land. All kinds of footwear, boots, shoes and rubbers are kept in generous quantities, for the use of men, women and children. Mr. Casey also makes a specialty of selling sample shoes and, at intervals, has his representative call at the houses of his patrons to show them specimens of these goods which can be bought at bargain prices. Mr. Casey also has a repairing department attached to his store, and he claims that the workman in charge of repairs is the most skilful in Boston. The prices which rule for repairing are astonishingly low, even for work cheaply done, and when performed by M. Casey’s expert, the charges made seem almost ridiculous. Mr. Casey enjoys the utmost confidence of his patrons and the citizens of Ashmont generally.
Mr. Casey was born in Spencer, this state. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and is still a young man. He employs three assistants in his store.
