Headquarters for all kinds of fish—the famous Rhode Island clam chowder made here—228A Bowdoin Street, Dorchester

The Norton Fish Market, J. J. Mur­phy, proprietor, at No. 228A Bowdoin Street,  Dorchester, although established only in April of the present year, has already come to be regarded as the headquarters of fish in the locality, especially oysters, for blue points, Cotuits and Cape will be opened fresh at the market. The store is 18 by 60 feet in dimensions and is provided with the most up-to-date sanitary equipment, consisting of slate and marble fish boxes and counters. Its fixtures are finished in pure white and the whole interior exceedingly attractive and inviting. The whole is acknowledged to be one of the best, if not the very best, establish­ments of its kind in the entire Dor­chester district. Mr. Murphy employs three courteous and capable assistants who attend to the wants of the patrons of the store in the most considerate anti efficient manner. He delivers orders that are called for and transported at [missing word] and to residences. The patronage of the market is drawn from all parts of Dorchester and its vicinity. The patronage of the store is very large and is steadily increasing, as the advan­tages gained by trading there becom more widely known.

It is worthy of note that the Norton Fish market is headquarters for the fa­mous Rhode Island clam chowder. As cook, Mr. Murphy employs George Ira Holland. of Somerville, who is a past master in the art of preparing Rhode Island clam chowder. He makes it the only way that clam chowders are made on the shores; of Narragansett today. He is a Rhode Island man of many years’ experience as a shore dinner and chowder maker.
