Wales’ store at No. 939 Dorchester avenue, Dorchester, is the headquarters for the sale of a lot of good things required by almost everybody and is one of the most popular establishments in the avenue. E. (Edward) C. Wales is the proprietor, and he established the store in the fall of 1906, after having sold out his establishment in the Back Bay district, city proper, where he had been located for eight years previously. Mr. Wales carries all of the popular brands of cigars, tobaccos and cigarettes, both imported and domestic, a full line of select confectionery and stationery, periodicals and souvenir post cards. He dispenses cool, refreshing soda water, with crushed fruit juices, college ices and ice cream in any quantities. Sub-station No. 68, of the Boston post office, is located in his store, as is also a telephone pay station for the convenience of the patrons of the establishment which are greatly appreciated.
Mr. Wales was born in Abington, this state, and was educated in his native town. He is still in ‘the prime of life. Although a resident and merchant of Dorchester for a comparatively short space of time, Mr. Wales has won a substantial standing in the community, both as a business man and as a private citizen. He is affable and courteous in manner, his personality being altogether engaging and attractive and is constantly winning new friends. As a member of the business world, he is distinguished for strict honesty and integrity, while socially, he is respected and highly esteemed.
