As a manufacturer if home-made candies and delicious ice cream C. H. Wachter, of No. 1459 Dorchester Avenue, Field’s Corner, Dorchester, stands in the front rank in the district. He opened his fine establishment in September, 1898, and has done a thriving business since the beginning of his career in that department of industry. His store and factory are amply commodious, being 20 by 100 feet in dimensions and are fitted with every modern convenience and device for the most thorough prosecution of his business. In the salesroom, Mr. Wachter keeps a fine stock of his celebrated home-made, delicious and healthful candies, which are a delight to the children and grown-ups alike., in the neighborhood. He also maintains an ice cream parlor, in which the refreshing products of his freezers are served to multitudes daily in the summer season. The capacity of his ice cream factory is eighty gallons a day. H gives employment to a large force of hands and draws his patronage from all parts of Dorchester, where his products are much in demand.
Mr. Wachter is a native of Germany and has lived in Boston for the last thirty-one years. He is a member of the Knights of Pythias and of the Ancient Order of United Workmen.
