General Aaron Capen

Aaron Capen was the great-great-grandson of Samuel Capen, the brother of Reverend Joseph Capen.  He became a major general in the Massachusetts Militia at age 32, the youngest to attain that rank. Later in life, Aaron Capen was in the lumber business on the Kennebec River in Maine. This oil-on-canvas painting was done circa 1830.

Born April 10, 1796, Aaron married Isannah White on October 3, 1821.  He was active in the State Militia and reached the rank of Major General in 1828, when thirty-two years of age.  He removed to Gardner, Maine.
