Dennis J. Callahan Square


The intersection of Dorchester Avenue, East Street and Freeport Street was designated a Hero Square for Dennis J. Callahan.

Dennis Callahan lived at 6 Conrad Street.  He went overseas with a machine gun unit and was killed in November 1918.  He was attached to A Co., 102d Engineers.  He was killed while engage with comrades in penetrating the Hindenburg line.
