Emilie and Frieda Bethmann both lived in Dorchester and were Boston kindergarten school principals. Frieda, the daughter, on the right, built 13 Carruth Street and spent some time in the White House teaching President Cleveland’s children.

The 1893 manual of public schools lists Frieda as principal of the Thomas N. Hart School and lists her home address as 31 Bushnell Street

The 1897 manual shows Emilie as principal of the Howe School on Fifth Street and living at 13 Carruth Street.

Sometime between 1904 and 1910 Emilie no longer owned 31 Bushnell

In the 1918 atlas the house at 13 Carruth Street is owned by Miner Berthmann

In 1930 the house at 13 Carruth Street is owned by Grace B. Talbot
