Eric Richard Fassitt United States Army 31 January 1947 – 6 January 1968 Eric Richard Fassitt was born on January 31, 1947 in Boston. As a resident of Dorchester, Eric enlisted into the United States Army on December 30, 1966 and began active duty that same day. Eric served as Corporal with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, and Company C. Eric Fassitt was killed in action in Hiep Duc Valley, South Vietnam, Quang Tin province on January 6, 1968 as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds from hostile action. For the heroism displayed in his service to our country, Eric was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Eric was survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Willfred R. Fassitt who are residents of Dorchester.

Fassitt lived at 7 Standish Street.  He attended the Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School and graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1966.  He was a member of the track team.  Cpl Fassitt was active in the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club of Boston and member of the Catholic Yough Organization of St. Leo’s Parish.
