Rev. Cormac A. Walsh, OFM, was the U.S. Army’s most decorated chaplain. He died at the age of 61 in May 1977. He was born in Roxbury. He was awarded three Silver Stars for heroism under fire during the Korean conflict in the Battle of Christmas Hill. He was also awarded two Bronze Starts, the Army Commendation Medal, the Korean Commendations Medal, and the Four Chaplains Medal with Presidential Citation.
