Deacon and Major Frank Lemuel Clapp was born June 2, 1871, and died in Dorchester, June 26, 1953, aged 82 years.  He married Bessie Jones, and they had no children.  He was a Deacon at the First Parish Church in Dorchester; he took a degree as an engineer from MIT in 1922.  He sold the remainder of the Clapp estate including the William Clapp House, the Lemuel Clap House, carriage house and barn to the Dorchester Historical Society at a very reduced price in 1946, and lived in the William Clapp House as caretaker until his death.
