H.J. Burrows, Dealer in Fresh, Salt and Smoked Fish, Oysters, Lobsters, Clams, etc., 759 Dudley Street, near Upham’s Corner, Dorchester. A really first-class fish market is one of the most useful establishments which any community can have located in its midst, for the demand for fish is a universal one, and all are interested in having it supplied in the proper manner. Mr. H. J. Burrows has won much commendation and built up a large and growing business by the enterprise and energy he has shown in catering to the wants of the public since he opened his present store in May 1887, at No. 759 Dudley St., and visitors will find that he carries a very complete stock of fresh, salt, smoked and pickled fish, and in fact of sea food of all kinds. Mr. Burrows was born in Leyden, Mass., and is connected with both the Knights and Legion of Honor. He gives close personal attention to this business and is always on the alert to improve the service to customers in one way or the other. The most improved facilities are at hand for the storing and preservation of the stock, and fresh supplies are received daily. Among the more important fish handled may be mention: cod, haddock, halibut, bluefish, mackerel, salmon, whitefish, striped bass, shad, sword fish, smelt, perch, together with trout, pickerel, black bass and other games fish. In the way of salted fish should be mentioned pickled salmon, salmon trout, shad, mackerel and herring and oysters; clams and lobsters are also handled largely and furnished at prices that will compare favorably with those quoted elsewhere.
