Dealer in fish, vegetables and fruit, 1894 Dorchester Avenue, Ashmont

James A. Hart was the pioneer fish dealer in Ashmont, and his stoere at No. 1894 Dorchester Avenue is one of the best known business houses in that part of Dorchester.  Mr. Hart established his store in 1892, 15 years ago.  Being the only place of its kind I ntheneighborhood, it soon commanded a large patronage, and it has increased in imporatnce with each succeeding year since the day its were swung open.  Mr. Hart deals in fresh fish, vegetalbes and fruits of all kinds , in their seasons, and lobsters, oysters and clams.  He seems to have superior facilities for procuring his stock, for his goods are invariably the best and freshest to be found anywhere.  The store itself is exceedingly attractive and inviting in appearance, with its spacious accomodations, its white3 fixtures and its shining amrble counters, and it is a pleasure to trade there.  The establishment gives employment to five persons and makes use of theree delivery wagons.  The place is patronized by every family in the immediate locality, and many of its customers come fromm a considerable distance for the purpose of taking advantage of the service the store offers.

Mr. Hart was born in Guisboro County, Nova Scotia, and has lived in Dorchester more than 15 years, is in the pime of life, and came to be a United States citizen in 1882.
