Lucy, daughter of William1′ and Sarah (Pierce), b. Dec. 3, 1815; was married August 25, 1840, to Jonathan Battles, son of Jonathan and Maria (Dickerman) Battles, of Stoughton, born Sept. 7, 1 812. He was educated first in the common schools of his native town, then at the Academy in Milton. He entered
upon the profession of teaching ; was engaged in the public schools of Dorchester and vicinity some twenty-five years, with good success. Resides in Dorchester.

- Edward Winslow Battles, b. June 29, 1844 ; d. Nov. 25, 1849.
- Harriet Augusta Battles, b. April 23, 1S56; d. Feb. 9, 1871.
