Mike Baker, comedian, died 2016

No. 8263 Mike Baker

When Mike was a child in Boston his family was so poor he would tell jokes for food so that he could help feed his family, half of which was mentally unstable. Okay, that first part is a lie, but the unstable part is true…oh and the part about Boston is true as well. He’s from there and actually still lives there with his babies’ momma & three babies. Three of which probably cannot be considered babies any longer, but it just sounds better that way. Today Mike goes out at night and tells very funny stories to complete strangers so that he can bring food home to his babies’ momma & three babies. Three of which…well I already told you. So if you really think about it, the first part of the story, when Mike lied about being a kid telling jokes for food, eventually came true…isn’t that ironic, don’t cha’ think?

Okay, the truth is Mike exploded onto the comedy scene several years ago and quickly became one of the most gifted young comics this region has seen in quite some time. Then he got married, started having kids and realized he has the ‘potency’ skills of an NBA power forward. Boston, known for producing some of the most talented comedians in the industry, has uncovered yet another gem. Mike’s natural talent and commanding stage presence make him a tough act to follow, and always leave audiences wanting more Mike. On stage, Mike’s natural High- Energy helps to describe his experiences growing up in an Irish-Catholic family, and his current experiences of being married with 3 crazy kids. Off stage he colors pretty pictures, chages diapers, watches Toy Story…a lot, and forces the 3 little people that live in his house to watch tapes of his act. He has been winning the laughter and applause of audiences all over New York and New England, as well as the attention of many people in the entertainment industry. Mike has been heavily scouted by Comedy Central, MTV, and most recently Twentieth Century Fox. Mike has opened for such national stars as Dane Cook, Louis CK, Anthony Clark, Jeff Dunham, Dave Coulier, Damon Wayans, Wendy Liebman, Colin Quinn, Lenny Clarke, Tony Moschetto, Richard Jeni, John Witherspoon, Jay Mohr, and a bunch of funny folks you’ve probably never heard of. Mike was a featured performer at the 2000 & 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and most recently 2005 Boston Comedy Festival, and placed 3rd out of 77 comedians from around the country in the 2001 National Comedy Contest. He was also a featured performer at the prestigious 2001 Chicago Comedy Festival.

Mike was also voted ‘Sexiest Altar Boy 1985’ by the Archdiocese of Boston. He led his High School class in detention’s or, JUG’s (Justice under God). He has appeared on Boston’s KISS 108 FM ‘Matty in the Morning’ radio show several times. Oh, and he has also shared a bed with comedian Jon Fisch…but don’t worry they’re not gay. But they would prefer not to talk about why they shared a bed 2 nights in a row in Gotham City. So please don’t ask. Keep your eyes on Mike, the best is yet to come for this talented, sexy young man.
