The inscription on the plaque reads: “Named in memory of Metropolitan District Commissioner, William T. Morrissey. He had an abiding interest in the civic welfare of is community and a great love for his fellow man. Throughout a long career in the public service, he contributed notably to the planning and development of municipal and metropolitan works and facilities. Dedicated 1934. Metropolitan District Commission.
Morrissey lived at 42 Dickens Street, Dorchester.
