Paul Whelton worked as a reporter for the Boston Journal and the Boston American.  Whelton wrote a number of crime novels in the late 1940s and early 1950s narrated by main character Garry Dean, a hard-boiled newspaper reporter.

Whelton was born in Dorchester, Nov. 1, 1894 and died in 1953. He was living near Boston in late 1940s.  At that time, he was a rewrite man on large city newspapers.
