Thomas Evans Bennett United States Army 28 May 1949 – 24 February, 1971 Thomas Evans Bennett was born on May 28, 1949 to John and Louise M. Bennett in Boston. He resided on Athelwold St. in Dorchester, MA. Thomas showed his love for our country when he was commissioned into the United States Army on May 27, 1969. Warrent Officer (WO1) Bennett proudly served in the 17th Cavalry, 1st Aviation Brigade. Bennett was killed in action as a commander of a rotary wing aircraft which crashed and burned in Binh Duong, Vietnam on February 24, 1971. For meritorious achievement while serving our country, WO1 Bennett was awarded the Air Medal. He is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA. Thomas was survived by his parents.

Bennett lived at 23 Athelwold Street.   He graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, where he played football and basketball.  Prior to entering the service, he was employed at the Boston Navy Yard.
