William Endicott (1842-1903) served for 40 years in the Boston Schools. He was Master of the Christopher Gibson School. Born in Canton, Mass., he served in the Civil War, then he started teaching in the Christopher Gibson School in Dorchester in 1866.

I was born in December of 1945 and attended the Endicott school from 1950-1955. At that time, it was K-4. For grades 5 and 6, the Endicott students went to the Sarah Greenwood which was a K-6 school. The Endicott school was a wonderful place, and I have many good memories about it. I will never forget when I was in the first grade and the entire school stood on Blue Hill Avenue to watch Dwight Eisenhower ride by in a Cadillac convertible as part of his successful campaign for President.
