Clarence M. Ronan Square

The intersection of Dudley Street and Alexander Street was designated a Hero Square for Clarence M. Ronan in 1962.

Ronan lived at 5 Marshfiled Street, Roxbury.  He graduated from the Hugh O’Brien School in Roxbury and enlisted in the spring of 1949.  Pfc Ronan served with the 7th Cavalry Reigment.  He was the first man in St. Paul’s Parish to be killed in the Korean War.  His mother received word of his death in October 1950.  His body war returned to the U.S. in August 1951.
