Francis Aloysius Cahill was born May 1, 1918 in Mattapan MA. He grew up in Boston attending Boston College High School then furthering his education attending Boston College, graduating in 1939. Francis showed his devotion for our country when he joined The United States Navy in March of 1941. Lieutenant (Lt.) Cahill was a naval aviator on the Augusta during World War II.  He was reported missing in action after participating in the invasion and the bombing of the Cherbourg. He was subsequently reported killed in action August 21, 1944. Lt. Cahill was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal. He was survived his wife, Mrs. Virginia Cahill of Brookline, MA.

Cahill lived at 164 River Street.
