Byrne lived at 18 Everett Street. He graduated from Dorchester High School and sent into the building trades. He entered the Army in February 1941, receiving his training at Camp Edwards and Fort Jackson SC, before going overseas in August 1944. Joseph M. Byrne was killed in action in France on November 24, 1944.
