Sullivan lived at 87 Kenwood Street.  He graduated from Boston Latin School, where he was an outstanding athlete and colonel of the school regiment.  He graduated from S. Bonaventure College, N.Y.  He completed his training at Fort Riley in May, 1950 and went to Fort Belvoir, VA, until September 1950, when he shipped out for the South Pacific in October as a member of an Engineers regiment.  He arrived in Korea about Thanksgiving and was one of 600 men of the 2d Engineers of the Eighth Army who went on patrol December 1st.  Out of 900 at the base, only 300 of the men returned home safely. James died in a Korean prisoner of war camp on April 1, 1951.
